Iowa Small Estate: The Limit, the Tracks, and the Form

For money and belongings, Iowa's affidavit limit is $50,000 — applied to the estate after the assets that pass automatically are taken out. For deaths on or after January 1, 2025, the affidavit requires that the estate contain no real property at all; a house closes this door. The affidavit, where one exists, cannot be used until 40 days have passed since the death.
